Default oh the good ol turbo lude

alright ladies and gentalman i know we all love our ludes, i myself own a 2001 SE lude and well im hoping to put together a decent turbo kit after i finish my swap. Now what im not sure of is how much power you can put down.....i mean the lude is pretty hevy so what have been your expereances with power and tourqe ?? how does it feel compared to the Wrx's Evos and such. Just like to see what im getting myself into.

your question is wayyyy too vague.

you could prolly make like 900+hp w/ a turbo H22 if you wanted to.

really? This might be off topic but what is the fastest lude 1/4 mile wise? What motor does he have, how much boost? I was thinkin of doing a small turbo setup on my h22 but...might be pointless- and i need it to be super reliable, i think if i had boost id just go crazy.

Dont expect to go to your weekly gradma and grocery visit making 900whp. If you want to keep it very streetable, i would stay under 400whp. Above that and it becomes to much to be driving everyday all day.

I personally prefer hondata units.

I dislike crome because of the bugs as well as having to spend 2x as long on the tune to only get results I am not 110% pleased with.

Hey I was interested in going turbo with my 2000 Prelude. So far I'm thinking GReddy 18G + components (BOV, wstgt, IC, etc) @ a modest 6-7psi before tuning to keep it streetable and reliable.

The thing I'm worried about is my mileage, by the time I could buy and install one my 'Lude'll have almost 90k miles on it. Is it a good idea to turbo a Lude, even with low boost, at that high of mileage?

90k is not alot for a Honda. As long as it is and was well maintained that is barely broke in.

Enjoy it while it lasts, the lenght of time it runs will depend on how boost happy you become. And you WILL become boost happy. Its like grabbing a tight *** once, youll be tempted to grab it again and again. So plan to rebuild it soon or later, then you can build it to with stand high boost and then the fun begins.

but with the right amount of money (think $10,000+) anything can be done

Under 500 whp and you are fine on the streets im 400+ on pump gas and i drive my lude on the streets no problem. Honestly anything over 350 whp is overkill for the streets. The key is making sure you choose a turbo that has decent spool and is more tailored for street driving, rather than making a huge number on the dyno. From what i have seen GT35 or SC61 are great turbos on the h22a!! As long as you dont have big plans for racing hardcore at the drag strip i think a prelude is great to boost.

Anyone have any experience with the Greddy kit +intercooler for the 'Lude? I'm hoping to do little to no cutting in order to install it...

The Turbonetics T3/T4 kit comes with an intercooler and is advertised as a kit that you don't have to hack anything or sacrifice A/C.

If I do go turbo this summer I was thinking of dumping my VAFC in exchange for a Hondata S200 to tune with...

Opinions would be appreciated on all these aspects of going turbo!
Thanks

yeh i agree but i have seen alot of boosted h22's but they couldnt handle the power like a b-series can u can boost the heck out of them all day long an hardly anything will go wrong with it i have a buddy that has a b18 block with a b16 head punched out to a 2.4 with a garret turbo an that thing is sick but im pretty sure ur building ur motor to handle the power ur getting out of it. good luck with the build keep us posted with it.
