serious problems... help please?
so my gauge lights started going dim about a week ago. yesterday my car wouldnt start until i towed it to kinda push start it. it cranked but wouldnt start up i have spark fuel compression and the timing is right. today car wouldnt start again... then once i got it running the gauge needles started bouncing my abs light came on then the srs light, my radio shut off and then the car bogged and wanted to die... thing is my headlights dont go dim the get brighter when all this happens... my battery charges and i have had the charging system checked 3 different places. ppl say ecu but would this affect the radio? others say my main relay. anyone ever had this problem that could shine some light on this? thanks
it sure sounds like a bad alternator ( charging system issue ) to me ..
take it to a shop that specializes on Hondas and have the charge system tested,, do not go to these mickey mouse free testing ( auto zone) etc etc

You could easily check for a alternator problem. Get teh car running teh best you can and turn on your lights and fog lights and anything else that will draw current form the battery, the idea is to put a load on the battery. Check the voltage at the battery posts, it should be between 13 and 15 volts with the engine running. If the battery is less then 13 then I don't care what the shop tells you, the alternator is not charging fully or not charging at all. If you got over 13volts tehn have someone rev up the engine and check the voltage. The voltage may jump momentarily but the voltage should not go over 15 volts. If it does go over 15v then there's a problem with your voltage regulator.
The other possibility that you may not have tested is the battery. Older cars can run without a battery once started, most newer cars have to have the battery installed to work properly. If the battery has a dead cell then it may not be holding or distributing the charge correctly.
If everything above checks out good then you have a wiring issue. If your lights are getting brighter then I would start there. Check and record the voltage at areas of the car that are effected like the lights, radio and anything else easy to get at. Call the dealership and ask the maintenance guy what he thinks. It's easier to diagnose a problem if you have an idea what the other systems are doing.
