Default Putting power to the wheels

I just recently changed the stock spark plugs on my em2 w/ some split fire spark plugs. I only have an air intake, and headers on it, but w/ the new spark plugs i feel that im reving faster yet im not gettin much out on the wheels.

For example i used to shift from second to third at between 3000 and 3500 rpm and be like at 35 mph, now im shifting at at about 4000 rpm and im still at the same speed.

Is it that the engine is trying to push more but is not getting to the wheels.

Im wondering if a upgrade to a stage 1 clutch i can get more power to the wheels.

This is my daily driver but im also interested in getting a little more out of the D17 just for fun.

Any suggestions or comments are welcomed, especially info about how upgrading my clutch will help or not.

Yeah, and good luck with that.

Spark plugs won't make your car faster. You have to think of why these cars were manufactured. Economy, fuel consumption, and appearance.

Only way you will get anything from the D is turbo. That and nitrous, but at the risk of cooking your motor. But then you would have an EXCUSE do swap to a K series.

Well, that's impossible. Let me explain:
Your engine spins at (x) rpm's, and as soon as the clutch fully engages, the transmission will spin at (y) rpm's to make your car go (z) mph. Those variables do NOT change, unless there is a slip in the system. That would mean that your clutch is slipping, if your engine is spinning at a higher rpm to go the same speed, which won't happen unless your not fully releasing the clutch pedal.

PS. You've only got 1 header, not multiple headers.
PPS. You might have gained 2whp along with the louder noises you hear. So, the fact that your not feeling the hp at the wheels, shouldn't shock you. You didn't gain enough to matter.

lol...yea header not headers...i know...and i also know tat the D17 is not meant to go fast, and ,im not lookin to swap or turbo, unless someone wants to give me some money for that...

on the other hand i know the spark plugs didn't give me tat much, i was just wondering if its me or why i feel like the engine is reving more at lower speeds...

second, what can a performance clutch to for my weak D17...."make it look better?"...lol not really but yea, any suggestions or corrections on that...

again fully appriciated!

Correction: Spark plugs won't give you anything in the power figures.

And, it is probably just all in your head that your revving higher at lower speeds (unless you have an auto., then I'd say it's normal for it to rev higher with aftermarket parts on it).

Then you really are not going to get anything much out of your stock motor. I have maybe a 5-7 hp gain from an intake and exhaust combo. You real performance is going to come out of the suspension. Anything else is overkill really.

It is a placebo effect. The only thing you would reall improve by better spark plugs is maybe a little better gas mileage or a smoother running motor.

Over kill.

127 crank hp will still be 127 crank hp with a performance clutch. You won't really transfer any more power because everything else inside the transmission is stock. You will just be trying to get more of the same power through the same internals. So you won't feel much.
