Price check isle nine, Honda CBR 98'
*****UPDATE HELP******
Alright well I went and looked at the bike. It is actually a purple and yellow color. It rode fine and shifted in all gears good. Tires were good andeverything checked out. the bike actually had a slip on pipe and he lowered the front. Now here is the deal, when I talked to him on the phone he said he bought it for his girl friend and they broke up so thats why he is selling it. That part of the story was consistant when asked again when I went to look at it but he did slip up. He said on the phone that he bought the bike from a man his age (32 years old) and when I went and saw the bike he told me that he bought it from a dad that was selling it because his son went and bought it behind his back. Next there were a few scrapes but nothing on the farings. The starter cover was litghtly scratched and the sticker by the seat was pealing a little. The bike was friken clean i mean you could eat off of it. He also told me he didnt wanna store it over winter thats why he wants to sell. Well when I went and looked at the bike he had a big storage unit it was in, heated and had 3 other race cars in it and 2 other bikes with plenty of room to spare. I wondered about that. He was a very nice guy though and honest. I asked him if he ever took the bike to the track since I could see he races his cars and he said it was taken there as a pit bike but never raced. He explained that he would have no reason to drag a 600 if he has 2 liter bikes (makes sense). I had him check the vin on the title with the vin on the sticker on the frame (dono where any other vins on the bike) and the vin matched up. So my question is does it sound worth it. I talked him down to 2800$ for it but then he wants money to deliver it
I also found another bike that the guy will deliver for free but it has 10k miles on it and needs a new rear tire and has scratches on it also. It on the other hand is a red black and white 98 F3 with a stage one jet kit and full 2 brothers exhaust.
So which one sounds like a better deal?? Personally color doesnt matter really to me.

Alright well I would do a kbb search but kbb only has dealer prices and NADA has values but does not say the millage. Anyways I have been looking for a bike and settled on a 600 but was up in the air with what bike to buy. I found a 98 cbr with 7k on it, has never been droped and is all stock. The guy said the lowest he will go is 3k on the bike and he needs to sel fast. Now I am in no hurry to buy a bike since the season is over for me but if i come across a good deal i will pick the bike up.
So if I rode the bike and put 4k on it over next summer would I still be able to sell it close to 3000 or no?
Hands down is this bike a bargain or no? Will there most likely be a better deal out there over winter or no?

That's a good price, given the condition of the bike. All stock is hard to find. Let me know if you don't want it - I've been looking for an unmolested one as a semi-museum/weekend-canyon bike.
As for selling it for 3k after +4k miles, that's tough to say.

The good thing is that with 7k miles, it most likely has not. But, it also means the bike has not been ridden much, so it's possible it has not been maintained well. Has the bike been in storage? If so, it will need new tires, an oil change, brake pads, and possibly a new chain and sprockets.

yeah the 3k neighborhood is fair for that bike, in that condition.
reselling it for that price shouldn't be too hard, though sometimes the demand for F3's, even clean ones, isn't the same as it is for f4i's and other newer bikes.

if its clean, you need to rock that bike ASAP. some guy tried to pass off a 96 F3 with 33,000 miles, slightly cracked fairing, bald tires, poorly maintained chain, dent in the tank, missing mirror for $2600.
my plan is to bring 2700 cash and say thats all i have with me today and i am willing to take it. If he says no I will leave and go to an atm and come back if the bike is everything i want.

Or just bring 3000 and offer 2700.

Sounds like he tracked or raced the bike and put it down at least once. Or, just lowsided on the street. Scratches on the stator cover indicate the bike has been down and slid for some amount of time. If the plastics are cherry, most likely the owner put the mint ones somewhere safe so the bike would look mint later on.
As for the story of not dragging (dragstrip?) a 600 because he's got two liter bikes, that's not believable to me. If you race (track or dragstrip) two of your liter bikes, of COURSE you'll run the 600 to see how well it does (or does not do). Plus, 600s are fun at the track too.

but what doesnt add up is if he did go through the trouble to get mint skins, why wouldnt he replace the stator cover also?
2.5 take it or leave it

The stator cover is a bit more involved to replace than plastics, and I doubt he wanted to put that much work into the bike. I'd probably have done the same, since a scratched stator cover isn't worth diddly-squat.
But, I may be totally wrong about this, and the whole thing may just be a great deal. As for choosing between the two bikes, they sound similar in terms of what-you-get-for-what-you-pay. I would go with my gut instinct. Do you have to get the bike delivered?

yea the bike has to be delievered because I do not have my license nor insurance on a motor cycle. I also drive a regular car and do not have a hitch so i can not trailer it.
The red one said he would take 2700 delivered to my door. I am getting pics of that one tom.... The guy with the purple one knows his **** with motors and what not so that kind of makes me weory of the bike. The owner of the red one is in his early 20's and is selling because he has 2 bikes (both for sale) and he wants to get one new bike.

When you add the cost of the rear tire, chain, shipping etc to the red bike it would add up to the same if not more than the purple. The purple bike may have been raced and dropped at the track but like you said it rides well so... You gonna sell it soon anyways so i say buy the purple . It looks clean in the pic . Just walk with 3k and offer him 2800.
