You probably installed the HG wrong. Did you re-use the stock bolts? Torque them down properly?

yea i did reuse the bolts but i dont think that would cause this big of an oil spew..... and yea i torqued them correctly, according to the diagram and i did it exactly how it said to... i mean this leak is bad.... you can hear like it sounds like oil bubbling or something and it spews like crazy. like my dip stick was dry after 5 seconds of hearing the sound and then seeing liquid then i shut the car off... its bad..
oh... well ****. wish ida knowed that. but ok so but would that cause that bad of a leak? do i just need to go get new bolts and replace the ones in there and it should be ok??
Considering that the leak atarted right after your install, I'd be willing to bet that something is screwed either in the HG or bolts, or torque amount. Since the bolts are screwed anyway. they probably didn't recieve the right torque, so there's two things right there.

ARP.
ARP.
who said you cant reuse head bolts, even honda's service manual state they can be reused, with a 3 step torque down, otherwise all the bolts in the engine would have to be replaced rod bolts, main caps, girdle if you have one, and the amount the bolts stretch is irrelevant, it is barelly enough to notice, all you have to watch for is if they torque different from the rest of them, they will turn noticably further than the rest.
oh btw the head gasket is DUMMY PROOF! it has two dowels that are diagonal to one another you cant mess that up.
check the oil pressure sender at the back of the block, if that is loose, that will do it, at a cold start the motor has around 60psi of oil pressure till it warms up, dropping to a reasonable 25psi, only other thing that i can think of is a oil filter problem, check to make sure that there is only one gasket, sometimes it sticks to the block, causing that to happen, mom did that the other day with her chrysler, and out came 3 quarts within seconds.
the last thing, but is not very likely, is the mains on the block cracked, which i highly doubt, but then again, cars do wierd things... XD

ok so wait, then now i am confused. what is the oil pressure sender? whats it look like? is it that two prong thingy sittin in the back of the engine kindof around the oil filter. would that sender cause this kind of problem and lose like 4 quarts of oil within a very very small amount of time?

Not so,what kinda manual are you looking at?Honda recomends changing the head bolts when replacing a head gasket. They are known to strech and not re-use them.

Yes you can reuse the head bolts like mentioned before with the three step torque sequence, but your right they are stretch bolts but your not putting that much torque on them, when you start torquing them to degrees not lbs, then you would change them. Any ways sound like a oil pressure sensor either loose or broken off.

No that 2 prong sensor on the back of the block is your coolant temp switch, it tells the fan when to turn on. Are you sure the oil didnt just spew out from around the oil filter?

yea im positive it was not the oil filter. i sas it coming from between the block and head. so i jsut replaced the bolts and bout to go start it up. lets see what happens.... what is the oil pressure sensor?????????? where is it what does it look like
it is below the intake mani....it has a boot covering the two plugs, you will see it is like a big plug you have to unbolt, and if you have the gauge, it has a sending unit. that will bolt in the spot...
It is your headbolts, dont feel bad I did the same thing and mine leaks I got arps and new gasket and put it on, no probs.
also did you check the head for being warped, you might have to get it milled......

hehe... now I'm curious to see if that made a difference. I wouldn't think it would.
I've reused head bolts before without a problem. This serious of a head leak would tell me the gasket is dead now. Probably need another one if that much oil saturated the whole thing.
I've heard of HG's being installed backwards before, but I don't remember what engine it was, maybe a GSR? i'ono..
