Default Automatic and turbo or supercharger

I have a 98 integra LS that is an automatic car. I know it sucks but it is for the little lady. She wants more power. I would like to hear from people who have ran boosted hondas with an automatic. I plan on installing a large trans cooler before the install. All the information you can give about your setup the better and how the tranny has lasted or failed and why? Thank you very much for any help you can give. J

hmmm automatic turbo,
a reprogrammed ecu for better gear shifting
and a torque converter so she can launch at the line

I have a boosted auto, unfortunatly I believe my tranny might be on the way out (its NOT related to boosting, as I've had problems before the turbo, although now d4 blinks all the time). Diagnosis is still unknown as I'm still trying to find someone that can hook my car up to a computer to get the real codes not just headings like code 70 (auto trans malfunction).

Anyways, its fun, and no one really knows for sure how the tranny will hold up. I would recommend level tens tq converter, tranny cooler, and larger tranny fluid pump setup.

it is feasible... if she and you just want some good power all around, go with a JRSC though. Less maintenance and more practical in some ways. 6 psi would be a good lil boost to get you a little more pep!

JRSC is awesome... I hope to get there one day! Less maintence on the SC then the turbo?? Better performance too, right?

I will tell you this from FIRST HAND experience. That Turbo will definately lag in an automatic vehicle. It will also tear up your transmission like its a prostitute that just slept with 30 guys. Its so laggy its not funny. I turbo'ed my old 95' Accord. It was auto and it took forever. Top end and high speed was great however.

If your little wants some hmph in her ride, I would upgrade to MT or even sell the LS. I had a B18B with I/E/H and it bites the big one.

Trust me I don't want her to have a stick, she hates them and I think she would rev it too the moon, being too lazy to shift. She can handle power though, she drove my old automatic 5.0 that only ran 13.90s with minor bolt ons.

Turbo Automatic LS would probably be about a mid-high 14. AT BEST.

The best thing you can do for her is to teach her how to drive stick.

STICK IT TO HER!!!

High 14 would be fine, she just misses the power from the pony, but not the **** mileage. She wants to go bracket racing with me and be respectable. She thinks it is retarded when people go brakcet racing with 16 second or slower cars, like mini vans and stock automatic hondas/acuras. Who would you recommend for reprogramming the computer for faster shifts? anyone? Thanks again.

the one thing i want to bring up is the clutch plates...*disclaimer: this is not first hand experience*... from what I've heard most domestics upgrade the clutch plates on the automatic as you get more power...i think that's what killed off my tranny a couple months back....the torque converter was fine, transmission oil was clean but the car would randomly stop engaging its gears...it finally died and i had it replaced...anybody else know anything more?

I don't really know a lot about turbo but I do know that you should teach her how to drive stick and not be lazy when it comes to shifting. I am a girl and I drive pretty good and it did not take me long to learn. I bought the car a stick and did not know how to drive it so I was obligated to learn. I did not ruin anything on my car either.

if you check his sig...i think it seems to be working ok. mid to hi 14's isn't bad. i wouldn't mind boosting my DA with an auto for more fun in the high altitude canyons. i'll be getting an ITR in a few years(after college) so i'll have that to really tear up the turns in. but a light-pressure turbo with an auto would be alright.

For all extensive purposes a auto integra b18b is gonna make ~170-200whp with a turbo at ~7-8 psi.

My tranny as well as others have lasted quite a while now (mine a little over a year now with NO mods to it)

However I do NOT recommend leveltens PTS kit nor a "shift kit" reprogramming of the TCM, leave that stuff alone.. if you wanna get serious like that swap out the auto for a manual. A Torque converter and cooler are 2 good ideas that I never followed thru with.

No I didn't. I did pretty good seeing that I am only 4'11" and have to site all the way up close.

If you build it right, an auto can be faster than a stick.

Would a supercharger be gentler on an automatic tranny than a turbo? I plan to boost my auto civic ex soon

No, basically just as much stress, just lower in the rpm band rather then higher... and less power also.
