Guys with ported heads ... quick Q's
Hey I noticed some heads get the valve guides shaped and others seem to just cut them flush. Now wouldnt that make the valve less rigid ?? Or is that extra length not needed for a race only head??

It is important to cut the guides flat on the exhaust to keep heat of of them. I have seen guides break on race cars because of this. I do know that some pro's DO like to keep them in there because its just that, a guide.

I think its important to keep as much guide as possible. Especially on high boost motors. A 5.5mm valve will get out of shape quick with 40lbs of boost.
