Integra Type R Door Panel fabric?
Any body know where you can just get the fabric from the Red door panels? Is the fabric tweed or something similar to it? Has any one just made one themselves? Just curious.
While on that topic, are the inserts easily removable? If I get a replacement door panel but has a different insert, will I be able to swap it easily?
I was curious about this too. I replaced the fabric on the door panels on my old Integra. I couldn't figure out a way to just pop out the insert from another door (without breaking it). I ended up pulling up the other fabric since it's just glued on. Then cleaned up the area, masked it off, spray glued the other fabric in. With some work it came out pretty nice and looked stock.
Yeah, I just carfully pryed the fabric up and slowly pulled up grabbing the part closest to the plastic. I started off a little to fast and it started leaving some fabric behind. Just take your time it should come up no problem. I didn't run a blow dryer or heat gun over it but maybe that would help.
I initially was going to use fabric from a donor panel but that didnt work, I pulled it off and it just didn't look as clean. So I purchased very similar fabric (not cheap either) used the ones I pulled as a template and traced an outline then cut.
It is a little tricky to push the fabric into the recessed part of the door. To fix this (since adhesive didn't work in that small of a spot) was to get super glue (womens nail glue works too) and run a line of glue inside that panel crack, inset, recessed part, or whatever you want to call it. Then run a butter knife or something along to push the fabric down and your set.
*This is just how I did it, you can see the panels in my "pics of my old ride" thing

That looks like it would cost an arm and a leg to have sent to the US...
Almost makes me more interested in just buying the panels.

I got mine for $150 shipped....but that was a while ago. To me...it was worth every penny ( especially since they were mint and included the cf switch covers ! )

Agreed...the cost of fabric and shipping, materials, and time...yeah, buying them would be worth it.
