Default GSR oil cooler tech question

Guys, I was wondering if anybody has a diagram, or knows the direction of flow through the GSR sandwich oilcooler?

I am thinking about doing some modificationns to that system, but I cant seem to find anything that explains where the external hoses go to and from...

One of the water lines comes from the water "cross-over" pipe that runs along the back of the block.

The other line goes to a fitting on the back side of the block (when I say "back", I'm refering to the side of the engine closest to the firewall).

I think that the water pressure is higher in the cross-over pipe than in the block (but could be wrong), which means;

The water flows from the cross-over pipe, through the intercooler body, and then back into the block.

If you look inside the intercooler, I think you would realize that the direction of the water flow shouldn't make any difference.

cool, thanks for the info... but the direction will matter for what I am trying to do...

so you think that the hard pipe is higher pressure huh?

As I said in my prior post, one hose goes to the water cross-over pipe and the other goes to a fitting on the block.

The cross-over pipe has to have a higher pressure due to it's being right at the output of the water pump!

Go to the dealer (or look at one of the on-line dealers) and get the diagram showing the hoses. Then see which hose fitting on the cooler is hooked to the cross-over pipe. That's the "input" to the intercooler.

All that said, I still think that it doesn't matter as to the direction of water flow within the intercooler.
