Default cold air intake gains over stock? no other mods.

Does anybody have dyno sheets or graphs on reasonable quality air intake gains over stock on a crx or civic 88-91?

please post it.

I know my bro in law put on one his stock car but I don't know if he felt any gains in the butt dyno. I can say that it made the crap louder.

To use a CAI to the full potential it is best to have your TB enlarge/bigger to use the air because that is the restriction point. The TB is only going to let the same amount of air whether CAI or air box.

To a point yes, but many companies show their dyno numbers for a sell point. I have seen and felt the difference on some other cars, but not on a crx/civic.

Intakes for the most part do offer a gain over stock, not much, but still a gain.
The dyno I use is broken so I wanted to see if some people have actually done this with a crx/civic. Ive seen some graphs of Type R's and some of the gains are fairly impressive with cold air as the only mod.

Or, a turbo def makes an increase with the same throttle body. So, by the same laws of restriction, wouldnt a less restrictive intake alow for more air?

I have a D15b2 with a $15 ebay short ram intake but with a K&N filter on it. It made a big difference in throttle noise both from engine and exhaust. It pulls a little more til redline. You do lose a little torque Im sure. I wouldnt take it back off and it definitaly makes a noticable gain if you are used to your car. But on the dyno its probably minimal. It makes your car sound meaner thats for sure.

well on my accord before my dad ran it into a wall at 75 MPH, i could DEFINATELY tell the difference, i had a AEM V2 cold air intake, and it wasnt really any louder, but it made some better numbers im sure, i could definately feel a difference.

I took the resonator off my stock intake and got like 10 hp

On these small engines, an intake isnt going to do much. In fact, anything you do wont get you near the results of doing the same thing to a larger displacement engine. You can put an intake on a v8 and see 10 hp, but on a tiny 1.6 liter you'll see maybe 2 or 3. A tune would definatly help you get a few more hp out of the intake, too.
