Acura Dealer in GTA sux >_<
I had a little accident few weeks ago. my R slipped out and it meet a curb so i had to get 2 new rims, trailing arm replaced, hub bering and few other parts. I took it back to Acura dealer to get my wheels mounted/balanced i also got acura to do a alignment for me. guess what? BAD IDEA
1) acura dealer cost more for an alignment and mount wheels.
2) they scrached all 4 of my rims when they were doing an alighment.
3) when my car was going up onto the alignment machine. the guy hit my front lip and scrached it. ( my car was in the stock height, not lowered)
4) i have oem body kit. when buddy at acura jacked up my car my side skits was pushed up so when i open the passinger door it would rub against the door.
5) i ask them to take me out for a test drive after the alignment but guess what. buddy took off for a joy ride without me. >_<
i ask to see the manager but he didn't come in that day so fine they told me to come back and talk to the manager next week.
a week later finally the manager is in >_< so i brought my car in.
he told me .. ""oh we'll just get it refinished and leave you car here"... after i heard that i was like "HELL NO". the manager told me that's the only way and he even told me "I"m very good with how the court works" ??
i'm like what? court? what are you talking about? he thinks that i'm going to take it to court.? during our converstions he would take off becuase he was "BUSY"
I told him up firm, i want go get my rims and front lip replaced, "since you guys damaged my car"(my car has only 5000-km on it). he just told me the best i can do is leave you car here and i'll get them refinished. he told me to take it or leave it and there was no way in hell i was going to leave my car at that dealer. >_<
after what happened
i couldn't get any result talking to the service manager, so i went stright to the general manager. he told me he'll call me back on monday.
so i'll wait to see what they come up with??
this Acura dealer is callled **Acura in Markham** services dept sux
but the parts dept is great.
don't go there for any services.

Isn't that the new dealership that just opened up?
I like Downtown Acura's service.
I like Downtown Acura's service.
the dealership looks nice.. but the service sux,
i had a bad experence with a sales guy at downtown acura,
i went in and ask for quote for the R and trying to work out a deal.
the sales guy that was dealing with me was really young and he just came out of high school (that's what he told me) and everything seem to be okay.. and he has not idea what he's talking about (buddy really don't know much about cars). he was telling me he can get me a type R for a good deal. as we trying to work out a deal, i offered him a deal and this is what he said
quote from the sale
"if you can afford a type R then don't then i can't help you "
wow if i can't afford it?? dam, i guess that's how they sell cars at that dealership huh? by making looking down at people?
guess what?? i got the deal i wanted from a different acura dealer.
so sux to be him.. i was going to buy 2 cars(my car and my sis's car) with downtown acura but.. he just lost my business.
so mmm.. i kind of had a bad experence at downtown acura also
but i wouldn't know about the service dept tho.. as long as you are happy with it. it's all good

Acura North Toronto seems to be the best dealer.... The service area is open until 12:00 at night Monday to Thursday....
As well, they have one of the only certified NSX mechanics that I know of.
Just go to Acura North... Talk to Raffi to Alberto.

My family has two cars from Downtown Acura and we service them there. We usually get good service. I just wish they would give an RSX as a loaner though.
DC2ITR: Yeah I know what you mean about looking down on people ...I notice that they try to bring in a more upscale clientele. They try to sell the RLs and NSXs.

I have no experience with the service department of Acura of Markham.
But their parts department is excellent!
And for some unknown reason the maintance service charge of Acura is so much more than Honda. If you compare the price of the most expensive maintance service between Honda and Acura, they are like $100-200 CAD difference ($4xx vs $2xx).

I cannot stand idly by and listen to this crap.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with that dealership. Because I am good friends with most of the service people at Acura in Markham I have the benefit of hearing the other side of the story.
I have seen your car and the condition of the “damaged” wheels and “scraped” front lip. The damage is VERY minimal and really not worth getting excited about.
The wheels: Consider the fact that the very next time you mount tires to your wheels (you will go through several sets in your vehicles 200000+km life) you will be left with fairly large nicks where the old wheel weights were. Are you going to have your wheels refinished every time you replace your tires? In a perfect world the alignment rack would not have left any nicks in your wheels and all would be great, but it did. Fix it up with some touch up paint if it bothers you that much and move on.
The chin spoiler: This thing is a magnet for scrapes and such. Even at the stock ride height it is nearly impossible to avoid the occasional scar. Consider for a moment that your car was likely the very first stock ride height TypeR that was ever put on that alignment rack, it is after all a new dealership. It doesn’t surprise me that they didn’t know there would be clearance issues with your car when driving up the ramps. Again, damage on your car is VERY minimal and could very likely be buffed out with some good paint cleaner, but why bother.
I have heard your story from the other side of the fence. I do not want to go into it here because it would not be fair to you. But let me say this, you presented yourself very poorly from the moment you walked into the dealership and proceeded to give them a hard time about everything even before they started work on your car. You are what people call a difficult customer and a type most try to avoid.
I have offered my “free” services to you and saved you considerable money. I made available my contacts to you. All this because you screwed up and drove your car off the road and because I try to help good people when they need it. I have received nothing from you in return, sure I generally don’t “charge” for my work but most of the people I help out help me out too. Your attack on my friends over very petty issues has left a VERY bad taste in my mouth.
Trust me when I say that you are going to find it very difficult in this world trying to find people who care about your car as much as you do, and those who do generally charge a lot of money because they are worth it! Even when you do there are no guarantees that small mistakes wont happen, how you handle these little mistakes will determine if that person will want to deal with you again.
I can’t tell you how to live your life but don’t expect much when this is how you treat those who help you.

The customer is always right and the right thing to do is to keep them happy. The bottom line is that the car was damaged while the car was in the dealerships hands. There should be no reason this guy's ITR should have a have a scratched up spoiler and wheels. The delaership F*CKED UP and should admit it.
The level of treatment you received at this dealership was obviously higher, sicne you are buddy's with everyone in the service department, and regardless of what was siad between the two parties:
The dealership F*CKED UP and owes this guy a new set of wheels and spoiler or paint, along with a loaner car.

1) acura dealer cost more for an alignment and mount wheels.( It's called dealer rates if you had taken the time to check you would know ahead of time)
2) they scrached all 4 of my rims when they were doing an alighment. ( this commomly happens there is not much you can do about it)
45) i ask them to take me out for a test drive after the alignment but guess what. buddy took off for a joy ride without me. ( Shops never take customers for a "test drives" when checking a car when every thing checks out OK you can see the results for your self. it's called liability.
Well I have had "stuff" happen to my cars before and the reaction you get from people usually greatly depends on how you approach them just from readind what you wrote it seems to me like you jumped on them and thats why you got shut out.
You could of turned it all around and made those guys your best buddies! the next time they serviced your car the would of treated like gold. after all if your car only had 5000k on it and you had to get an alingment something tells me that you more than likely had a more than good hug or kiss with a curb so if you can F*(&^*&^ CK up! SO can some one else so take it easey getting all worked up will not help you at all.

Baby NSX, I can’t begin to think you enough for helping me fix my car.
YOU ARE A GOOD GUY and a good friend. I’m so glad that we met.
I hope you understand where I’m coming from. I do not believe this is crap, I believe this something that we should be all aware of. I do not want this to happen to anybody else, especially to our fellow R owners.
I know as you said the damaged on my car was very minimal and it’s not worth getting excited about it (I totally agree with you)
But from a customer’s standpoint we want to get the best service and this is even more so from Acura, since they should know more about Acura then anybody would.
The FACT remains that these damage were done by Acura and they should be responsible for their actions. From a Business standpoint, “customers are always right” I don’t know what stories that you’ve heard, but I do believe if I’ve done anything wrong the dealer or YOU should let me know (I’m responsible for all my action) but what could I have done at a dealer but stand there and looking at my car from the other side of the glass and wait for work being done on my car?? There was nothing I could of done but to look at my front lip and rims being scratched on the alignment rack.
We all know that if you were careful there would not be any damages on mounting wheels or even alignment.
The only reason why I brought my car Back to Acura was because it was refer by you, so I know they’ll do good work. (I trust you with my car). Besides Acura charges more for wheel mounting and alignment then other shops around town. I was not about to cheap out on wheel mounting and alignment.
Yes I did screw up and drove my car off the road, I was stupid for trying to test my cars limit on the street. And I’ve learned my lesson, and the price to pay for something so stupid is not worth it.
I do not want to lose my friend (Baby_NSX) over such a stupid issues. It’s not worth the cost. You are a good guy.
I’m sorry if my post has cost these problems with you and Acura. I don’t mean to bad mouth your friends at Acura but merely to let the fellow R owner know about my experiences. But I do believe that if these damages were done by Acura (don’t matter big or small), they should take care of it.
p.s. Like I said on my first post and i'll say it again, the Part department is great

well, i don't need to start a war here.
but if you said that i "jumped on them" then i guess you would have to be there in personal to know if it true or not. it's for everyone to judge.
i would say that i had the best service from Acura North
the really took good care of me. the service guys and manager was great

i say u should call honda canada inc.. about those problems.lots of acura dealer are like that....erin mills acura don't go there at all they stole my friend spoon radiator capand they told me that i didn't bought my r from them, so they wouldn't warranty my car, that's bullshit and when i when to downtown acura, they make me come like 10 times b4 they rebuild my engine and accussing for racing my car b'coz has camber, i laugh at his face i told him is b'coz my car is lowered...luckyly i took off my lip when i went in there coz damn!! that sidewalk thing is high, i ask alot of dealer they shouldn't have those regulations about the warranty stuff..
Babynsx is a great guy
He did gave me considerable insight and shortcuts on how to do the JDM FD and lightened flywheel by myself.
Well, I guess everyone have different experience but Acura of North Toronto is one of the dealer service that I WILL NOT recommand anyone to go to.
To make a long story short, my car had a broken rod bearing(s) after 2 months of having my car. I did not over-rev (in fact I was still running in the car, not over 4k rpm ever), so I am sure it is a defective engine. The service manager is trying to give **** to me and say I over-rev (which I swear I didn't. Perfect compression on all cylinder and no bent values should prove my saying). The first few talkings they only agree to re-build the engine (blaming me that I screwed up, and it is nice enough for them to cover under warrenty), which I go like WHAT? I paid close to 40k CAD for a brand new car and you just agree to re-build the engine which became defective before the car reach 3k milage?
After 3-4 negoiations, they did replaced the short block, but I think that's mainly due to the fact that I took auto-mechanic classes and can defend myself from over-reving (again, perfect compression, no bent values). If not, I think I will be f*cked.
I also had a hard time to get my invoice after the warrenty. At first I thought they are hiding something but I guess I was just too paranoid.
So here is my story, please take it easy. If you get good service from them, then good for you, and I see no point for you go to other place for service JUST because of my story. But I will try the service from Acura of Markham in the near future to make the judgment myself!
Peace

Just to add in my 2 cents, I have not had any problems with Acura Sherway, nice people, but if I had my car damaged...I would expect something in return as well. Then again, it's very important how you vent your anger (read: diplomacy) if your nice about it, the dealership will be willing to make you happier.
This thread is unbelieveable.. Somebody damages the car and then tries to shrug it off as not worth worring about! At a dealer no less!
Wrong answer
It may truely not be alot of damage, but the dealership has stuffed it's self by not being proactive, forthright and honest. It doesn't even sound like an appology was offered. Replacing the rims and repainting the spoiler
may be over the top, but there are other forms of compensation available
( discounts, promo items etc ) that may suffice.. Sounds like this avenue escaped the dealer...
It's not the damage so much, as the responsibility for the safety of the car while the dealer has it. I might understand the spoiler if that was the first R they had ever seen ( unlikely, unless they staffed the dealership from guy's off of the street! ) but the wheels are unforgivable.. The car should be aligned with steel rims, as the dealer should know that the wheels will be damaged.. If ppl are worried about getting a poor alignment with steel wheels, then the dealer should have a set of used ITR rims around to use for alignments ( steel wheels are fine ).
Our dealer out here is a saint compared to the troubled dealers you guy's have.
Can you imagine scratching the rims on a new M# at the BMW dealer? Never happen... And isn't Acura in existance to take business away from the Germans
by being a better company to deal with? Thought so..
Wrong answer
It may truely not be alot of damage, but the dealership has stuffed it's self by not being proactive, forthright and honest. It doesn't even sound like an appology was offered. Replacing the rims and repainting the spoilermay be over the top, but there are other forms of compensation available
( discounts, promo items etc ) that may suffice.. Sounds like this avenue escaped the dealer...

This is the last thing I have to add to this thread because I don't want to continue this argument. I understand DC2ITR is upset and don't want to hurt him further. I do think you’re a stand up guy, but I do believe you are going to far with this one. We all do it from time to time... this is your time.
First:
You could not be more right!
If you jump up and down and make a bad situation even worse your not likely going to get the results you were expecting.
I have to add this:
Read: I showed the manager the damage he agreed to have the damage repaired and I declined! Doesn't sound like the dealer just turned his back on this one. Sounds like the customer was holding out for a bigger prize!
Sorry DC2ITR, but you were expecting the dealer to jump right out and offer you 4 new wheels. When they didn't you got mad and made things worse for both you and them! I have talked to the dealer about this situation and they have assured me that they want this resolved but are finding that you are not being very co-operative with them. If you don't give them a chance to make it right then they probably wont!
I've said what I needed to say.

First:
Just to add in my 2 cents, I have not had any problems with Acura Sherway, nice people, but if I had my car damaged...I would expect something in return as well. Then again, it's very important how you vent your anger (read: diplomacy) if your nice about it, the dealership will be willing to make you happier.

I have to add this:
so i brought my car in.
he told me .. ""oh we'll just get it refinished and leave you car here"... after i heard that i was like "HELL NO"

Just a suggestion here. It sounds like DC2ITR trusts BABY NSX and so does the dealer. If both DC2ITR and the dealer are willing, both sides could let BABY NSX decide what is a fair resolution for all concerned. Not trying to butt in here, just a thought.
BTW, what does GTA mean?
