Default Dyno # (B18C) - P72 USDM vs JDM vs single butterfly mugen program

my setup: JDM B18C (GSR) - stock internals, mods as follows:
RSR Exmag GT Exhaust, JDM 4-1 header with JDM ITR cat, ITR Intake cam, K&N cone filter, no tuning just baseline (no cam gears)
basically 174 whp and 123lb/ft torque (to the wheels)

Mugen program was running open secondaries at all the times (and didn't loose a hp or torque)

not shown was XS Eng. program which made 2-4wHP and torque more then stock USDM P72 between 4800-7500rpm but compared exactly to stock in the rest of the curve USDM P72

sorry for being a retard but what program does the green line represent? Is that a mugen p72 program or p28?

Why is there such a big difference in torque between the USDM and JDM ECUs? I noticed that GSR is a little sluggish until it hits VTEC then it just takes off. Is that normal?

Yea...I wanted to ask about that lip too. It doesn't look stock....not flat....lip has sort of a flare to it.

my understanding is that the "mugen" program works best with the P72 if the octane rating is high due to the knock sensor and the p28 works best with lower octane ratings (i.e-91octane) is that a correct assumption?

the lip is 97 JDM Integra Type R, needed small mods to make it fit (hence the 5zigen sticker)

as far as the mugen program it doesn't matter on what which obdI dohc vtec ecu (other then p13) you run it, it works the same way, knock sensor is disabled anyways

Im in the market for a P72 ecu... If i got the mugen chip, would i keep the knock sensor? Im running 12.5:1 CR and want to keep the knock sensor. Also, if it is a single butterfly program, did you change to a Skunk2 or ITR IM?

Thanks!

I actually have a Mugen P72 dual butterfly program. Yes, the secondaries open up at 5700 and VTEC engages at 4400. We ran it on my friend's 94 GSR and then ran a Mugen single butterfly program in a P28. Obviously more mid-range power with the P72 but after 5700, the Mugen P28 pulled harder than the Mugen P72. All around driving, the Mugen P72 worked the best but for racing, and dropping the VTEC x-over to 5000, the Mugen P28 was better (these were proven at the track, not on a dyno - Mugen P28 = 14.78 on stock B18C, Mugen P72 = 14.91, Stock P72 = 15.21)

alright well which would be better for my application... JDM GSR, 12.5:1 JE pistons, Eagle rods, Stock IM, I, H, E, daily driven. Stock head for now.

Edit: Mugen chipped P72 or Mugen chipped P28. I will also eventually be getting the skunk2 IM, just dont have the cash right now.

I have heard that forged rods can trigger the knock sensor due to the "clang", even if octane is sufficient. Don't quote me on this just heard it somewhere

ha! I knew the JDM P72 ecu SUCKED!
thanks for dyno proving that Adrian

.....btw people, the JDM P72 ecu is NOT chipper friendly. I've tried chippng a few in the past & they all do not like ANY program (not even the P28/P30 mugen program!).
