Here in Vancouver, many older Honda's rust on the corners of the rear outside wheelwell area. Is this because the outside sheetmetal and the wheelwell are compressed together leaving slight gaps at the seam from which dirt and water get trapped? Does anyone have a definitive answer as to why and how to prevent this?

 

If it is rusted you will need to cut and replace.
