so as of last night.....my car was gone. I was planning to move it (alternate side parking) and there it was. An empty space.

cops are coming today to fill out report. They said I had to wait a day before they officially can claim it to be stolen. (searching database, towing, etc)
what are the next steps after that? I only had liability on the car

1998 Honda Civic EX coupe (Riced out......wingswest avenger kit, wingswest 3 piece spoiler, SI rims, projector headlights, red/clear tailights, gsr black leather seats, center console, door panels) manual 124500miles. bought from dealership in july 2001.

had autolock on it. stock keyless entry. Parked right in front of my apt building.

RIP - last seen 8:30pm 10/15/06

what's the likely hood of at least seeing the vehicle again......i know its definitely gonna be stripped. but hoping that it would turn up. and not burned.

 

Damn man, I know how you feel. My car was stolen this year too, recovered 3 days later stripped of all my parts. But I'm trying to make the best of it and I'm doing a complete rebuild. I hope they find her soon man.

yes, i did use my autolock......which is why i am assuming they towed it.

police just came and i went thru a report with them. I'm suppose to get a complaint# within a day or two and then go to dmv to unregister the car and get forms for insurance to cancel, etc.

so how does the process work?.....once they find the car, do they call you, etc?

 

yeah once they find your car its going to be towed to a towing yard then the yard people is going to call you.when you do get your car back,see if the autolock is stil on the car and let me know cuz im also using the autolock,and after hearing this i might need more security measures

 

I can only assume that i would have to pay the yard for the days that it was there. Are they suppose to call u pretty quickly so that you dont have an arm & leg for the storage, etc.

not even sure whether i should go for another acura/honda....thinking about a 99-00 SI or a 02-03 RSX type-s....dont wanna worry about car being stolen. Might as well go for a cheap 3series beamer. lol

 

autolock is very easy to get passed !!!!!!! i lost the keys once for mine and freaked out called autolock and they had o suggestions besides call a lock smith.....and literaly they had it off in less then 20 seconds and they explained to me how they did it i wouldnt trust that as my only source of protection

That sucks and all, but a stock alarm to "stop thieves" is like trying to kill someone with a bee bee gun... Good thieves can get it either way, but you SHOULD have put more into the security... Not hating, just saying it like it is bro. My EM1 got stolen last thanksgiving. IT ******* sucked.

i kinda figured i was gonna get ranked on about the rice stuff....lol understandable, but didnt want to drop more money putting it back to stock. If they strip out the kit, etc...and not burn it hopefully. Then nothing $1k wont do to fix it back and make it clean. if they bash it up, that's another story.
