i would go k20a, id go k20a2 or k24. k20a is just too dan expensive, even if ur parents r flippin the bill.
k20a2's can be found for around 2-3 G's normally( engine tranny axels and ecu). Then u need Kpro, a subframe, and other misc parts.
I think if u do it urself, you can get it done for under $4500, which is good comparing it to the $5600 price tag on the k20a.
This also leaves u some room to buy a GOOD header ( not cheap DC ) and a good exhaust and lsat but not least TUNING!

i'd also go k20a2. unless you just want to say you have a type-r motor in your civic.
when i first got my k-series in my em2 it was right at 6400 with k-pro and upgraded axles/clutch/and lsd. it took me about 2 weeks after i got the motor and everything. there was little things that i had to order as i went and that's what made it take a couple weeks.
if you want to do it right and get lsd/clutch/kpro and headers and such, then look at 5800 easily.
if you had everything you needed, you could do it in a few days, as long as you had a good place to do it and a little know how.
