Default Post your NA built SOHC/D-series setup!

There was a thread a while back but it's gone so i'll start a new one.
post a pic of your NA d-series SOHC setup...and list the specs and power output please to see what everybody is at and aiming for.

Myself...I'm working with Mr.RHTuner on a d16a6 block with a d16y8 head and trying to find a good combination of pistons + cams to work together to give me a fairly nice CR ratio and power figures.

Pics of engine will be up soon

not everyone wants to lay down 400whp. NA d series is different.

wtf what? you can build a nice reliable d-series that will keep up with a b16 easily. It's not how much power you output but how it works together as a whole setup. This car isn't for drag racing but auto-x and ocasional circuit days so it will be a fun 'low-budget setup'

Theres nothing wrong with an NA D series.

D series are used or required in alot of road racing classes.

Not every car is built to cruise to McDonalds and the Mall.

I know people use D-series NA for road racing and such, but that statement still made me laugh like a little bitch... hahaha

hahaha so very true ...sometimes i think people forget that building a car isnt to just impress other people with HP numbers or 1/4mile times, but its for yourself and to have a ton of fun driving the **** out of it ....... oh and its also fun to spank high HP cars with my "Stupid little D" in the twisties and hold my own on the straits.

Spring will hold much more for my NA D16 NON vtec.

If i can source up the money these are the plans....

D16y7

I/H/E no cat...done
272 cam
ex transmission with Mfactory 4.9FD
11lb flywheel stock or stg 1 clutch

this simple setup should run low 15's and allow me to play with b16's easy

oh and and if thats "not enough" HP then i could just through in pm7 pistons bump the CR to around 11:1 ish and be at 145whp easy. and dont tell me i could buy a b16 for the cost of...

Used oem pistons $100
Delta 272 cam $100
I/H/E $700
Tranny $300-400
FD $400

and besides even if i could its much more statisfing to be original and putting some work into something i built myself

So far.....

Not trying to be a jerk, your car is nice and that build is awsome.

However I do think you can get a B16 swap for $1700..

like i said it might be possible....but for me being 98 i need to be obd2. So i dont think i could buy a b16 obd2 for that cheap. And a D with 140whp and a b16 with 140 whp....a D would win with more torque as it has a 90mm stroke

thanks for the props

Nothing special here - stock rebuilt Y8 with PM6 pistons, mild street port, stock exhaust and AEM short ram intake. No dyno numbers, but i'd like to see any B-series get 42mpg on the highway like my little motor. And it cost half as much as a B-series swap to rebuild with all OEM Honda parts.

never dynoed car but engine currently has 65xxx miles & valve train is bone stock with 162xxx miles revvin' to 8200 everyday. The car has beaten gsr's with i,h,e and si's alike. Its not the fastest thing in the world but everyone doesnt believe that it is a d series...until you pop the hood.
When you have a d...you're the underdog...so they think anyways. Put it in a hatch and with a FD it will def. be a car to respect. When you can rip 2nd gear @ 2750 rpm...you have somethin!
