Default Spark plugs/Wire issues.

So i have a 91 accord ex, two door 2.2 manual. I'm driving along one day a couple of weeks ago and it starts to sound like an air compressor, i was getting a misfire in one of my cyclinders. so i stopped and one of my sparkplugs was completly not attached to my head, so i screw it back in make sure the wire is on correct and start it up again, This time two come off! what the hell? Soooo after all this, my wires were still good, no sparks between them, nothing. i put new plugs in and everything was great, now...i am getting a CONSTANT misfire...it doesnt just go away with acceleration. i opened my hood last night and i could see the sparking between the wires, so i know i need new wires but i am here to see if i can get a suggestion on wires with better insulation.

Suggestions please, brand, price etc. Thanks
Kat

Any Wires are good really,

i had NGK wires on mine, but then i put on xact wires from an auto parts store

No need for performance wires for stock cars, there not worth the price

Agreed with above, but are you sure your distributor isn't bad? I mean the wires are just shooting sparks at each other? I have never heard of that in my life considering how thick the insulation is.

Your stock wires lasted what? 15 years. I doubt you will find any aftermarket wires that will last longer than that. Cheap aftermarket wires don't usually fit right on the valve cover. I would get some new oem wires myself.

Yeah, I'd have to agree that those OEM Honda wires that ONLY lasted 15 years are total junk. LMAO!! You are much better off if you replace them with aftermarket wires that JUST MIGHT last a year.
Honda plug wires ARE the most reliable wires you can buy. No doubt about it!!

check the resistance of the wires, if they are within specs then they are good as new.

alot of people throw away perfectly good wires because it looks

There should be a date on the wires if they are honda. If not you might want to acquire some from your local dealer. If you can see sparks you have got some issues. You should check the resistance of each wire, and more often than not they need to be replaced.

There's 2 completely different ways for plug wires to fail. The resistance goes bad, THAT you can measure.

When the insulation breaks down, most mortals don't have the testing equipment to measure that. Resistance thru the wires (measured with a normal ohm-meter) is still OK. The best way to test is let the engine get completely cold, start it up in complete darkness, & look for arcing between the wires. Especially effective when you spray them with water from a windex bottle.

Basically, clarkgable has already done that test, & he knows they're bad. 15 years from a set of wires isn't too shabby...

The wires aren't stock..but nor are they 15 years old. They were put on the car right before i purchased it. About three years ago. and the insulation is crap. its really thin...but they are clearly sparking between each other.

If you have cheap, old, or worn out plug wires, they can arc from one to another. To test this, just mist the wires with some kind of solvent or water, I prefer windex. You'll see it spark..

As to which wires are the best for your Honda. Honda's are only plug wires I'd put on any Honda. This is because Honda ignition systems are very picky and will only work well with OEM parts.

Best test for plug wires.. Find someone else with a Honda and pull off their plug wires and put them on yours, granted their car runs ok..

I mentioned that partly because other people will read this post when they search about their problems in the future.
