looking at a bike but it has a problem...HELP

im looking to buy my buddys 96 cbr 600. he just wants to get rid of it because he said that when its in neutral it starts just fine but when he holds the clutch and puts it in gear it stals. i was thinking its the clutch cable net being tight enough but im not sure. does anyone have an idea about what it would be. i have only seen pictures but it looks like its in great condition and thats the only thing wrong with it.

Is the kick stand down or up? If it down, that is normal. You cant put it in gear while the kick stand is down.

if the kickstand is up when this is up then i'm betting it's the kickstand sensor. Easy fix.
