Default Unsteady cruising speed.

I'm amazingly tired right now, so I might not provide all required info. But, I'll give it a shot.

Got a D16Z6, and when I try to maintain speed, throttle acts like an on/off switch. Fifth gear, going 65mph. I'll get to about 65, it'll either be accelerating or decelerating. Can't maintain a speed. Oh, and the Check Engine light comes on whenever it starts.

Problem goes away after shutting engine off for a bit. Perhaps due to temp? It's running at a fine temperature.

Give me any ideas.

I have a similar problem on a different motor. mine is distributor related. you could check your rotor and cap to make sure all is cool. its one of those things you dont notice till you check it.

My z6 does that sometimes in my rex. Did it on the way home tonight....If I do a lot of blippin the throttle I can make it go away. Either do it with the clutch in or not. Thats how mine goes away. Not really sure what it is.

What code is stored in the ECU? That will probably narrow down the problem.

I'll try and get the code today. Haven't had the chance tonight.

Hey Attoir, I'm pretty sure it's the EACV. You have to reset the ECU to make it go away. Just take out the hazzard fuse in the engine fuse box for about 10 seconds. It use to that to me sometimes and after resetting the ECU it went away. To really solve the problem you would have to replace the EACV.
Later, Sergio
