I just bought a 1990 Civic Hatch and I'm in the process of adding the little things that the car is missing (ie clock, cigarette lighter etc)
Now I'm looking to add rear speakers. I don't like the stock location on the hatch cover since I don't plan to ever use a hatch cover. Therefore I was thinking of uniquely mounting the rear speakers to the ceiling of the car. I got the idea when I looked at my wife's Jeep.
Now the challenge would be finding a raised bracket to receive the depth of the speaker. Anybody know where I can find one?

So you think it needs to be custom made? They don't have anything premade for 6 1/2" speakers that I can buy from a store?
This is a first generation civic that I found on google images... A guy must have thought about the same thing i thought of. The pic may be small but it's the best I could find.

I will look into this... but if you are talking about civic hatch speaker pods then you failed to read my post...

By hatch cover do you mean the removable cover that is sort of carpeted? If so I don't believe that that is the stock mounting position. The pods where the speakers mount in my Si hatch are right up against the windows and they are not removable without exposing lots of metal in the rear! You should look into getting these plastic panels.
