Broken Conrod from Funny Car motor
I went to NHRA at VMP this past Saturday and scavenged this broken piece of a connecting rod from a funny car team (don't remember who). A crew member measured it to be .950" THICK Aluminum.

LMAO! Nice souvenir!
Now the question is, which part of the rod is it? Looks like a part of the big end, right shoulder area.
Did you happen to see when it exploded? Or did you just pick it up in the pit area?

the crew guy said it was right above the shoulder like you said. i didn't see it explode and on my way out i was asking teams if they had any broken parts they wanted to give away. so to answer your question i just picked it up in the pits. it would be much cooler to say the motor blew and the rod landed on my lap.

Actually, that would have been pretty HOT!

Cool! Looks like an aluminum rod from BME(Bill Miller Engineering). Russ Collins (RC Engineering) used to drive a top fuel dragster for BME way back and he has a piston/rod on display in the back of RC's shop.
