In the interest of a quick answer I offer my limited knowledge...

If I remember correctly, the gas guage is connected to a float in the gas tank which connects up to some other electrical equipment to make the needle on your gas guage work. As you fill the tank, the float goes up, and the needle does too. Likewise as you use the gas up. So, when you go into a turn, the gas in the tank is going to all move to the outside of the turn. If the float isn't mounted directly in the center of the tank (which it likely isn't), that's going to give you a different reading depending on the direction of your turn.

For example, if your float is mounted left of the center of the tank, and you make a right turn, all the gas will slosh to the left side of the tank and the gauge will read higher.

Like I said, I'm no tech, just offering a quick answer. My 92 hatch does this all the time also. If it's happening a lot when your tank is full, though, then there shouldn't be a lot of sloshing around going on and then I might be worried. Otherwise don't worry about it.

The solution would be a baffled race tank.

Or just dealing with it like every other car on the road.
