new s2000 for 2008 with link and pic!!! please post your thoughts

im thinking that the 2004-2007 s2k the ap2, is going to be the best one out, as in looks wise and performance wise, they might add 10 hp, but decrease the redline and put more weight on the car with a v6 engine for 2008.
im thinking that the 2004-2007 s2k will be a better buy, then if the 2008 s2k comes out, knowing that the s2k now is 100% japaense, gives me no worries, most likely the new coming s2k will be produced half in japan and half in america, gets me thinking. just posting this up, to see wat other honda-tech viewers will think on this topic, and interested on what you guys thinking of the ap2 s2k comparing it to the rumors of the 2008 s2k...

ok i thought about it...
"The expectation is that the S2000 will be more compact than these two and significantly lighter. Mr. Mitani's friends at BestCar are guessing that the S2000 will likely get a "2.4-liter version of Honda's K24 inline-4" (redundant?), but they say there's also the faint possibility of a 3.0L V6. They're guessing that the 2.4L will develop around 250hp at 7000 rpm and 180lb-ft of torque at 4800 rpm."

I cant make any judgements until the production version comes out. I doubt I would want one though, im happy with what I have now.
250bhp v6, is honda kidding me? thats f*cking weak...... they can pump out 240bhp from a 4 banger but cant give us close to 300 with a 6 cylinder?
i think the ap2 and ap1 look wayyy better anyways, but im sure it will grow on me.

Believe me.. Honda does have the potential of getting more HP out of an engine if they wanted to.. not so sure why they wouldnt.
Look at this photo.. Have they gone mad and made it look like that disgusting crossfire???

The article doesnt say its going to have a v6 250hp motor. It says if it comes with a 4 cyclinder, then it will most likely put out about 250. If this car doesnt come out with 6 cyclinders, then its going to be a waste of money. Im not sure wtf their thinking, but they really need to start adding more cyclinders to their cars, or start boosting them. It seems like their more interested in selling more economy cars to people who just want it to drive around, and less focused on performance enthusiasts.
thay definately need to put a more powerful motor in it. the current s2k has 240hp, but came out 6 years ago. it needs atleast 300hp and hopefully it will be able to be swapped into an ap1/ap2 chasis because that picture looks like a convertible accord or a toyota solara.

This sounds like a statement I agree with.
I'd like to think the car could get better in the next few years, but, I just don't see "improvements" being made with the way the economy is going. We're not ever going to see another 9k RPM engine; that's for sure.
And with other RWD cars out there like the 350Z / G35, hell, even the Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky, they all are at least 2.4L engines. So, I see Honda going that same route.
But, as with anything in the future, only time will tell. For now, I'll continue to enjoy the one I've got.

what v6 do they have that is turbo charged?
maybe you are talking about the acura rdx? cause that is a turbo charged 2.3L, 4 cylinder engine. and you are correct, they do not have an inline 6 cylinder engine.

I think people fail to realize car magazines sometime create their own artist's renderings. This is likely an image created by R&T to stir things up. The article offers no new real information.
the article admits that the news doesnt sound trust worthy, in the car industry rumors fly all the time, and a car can change 6 times the year before its supposed to be released.
if you are going to spend the money to r&d changing the s2000 platform it better be for something more than 10 hp...thats just a waste, which is not what honda is known for.
i think we can all trust that honda will put out an engine setup that will last forever stock, be "funto drive stock" and with less torque then we want, after all thats the honda roadster concept, the new nsx will be built to compete performancewise with the new gen of supra's and company, not the s2000.

i doubt it will be at 250 hp, unless if grossly underrated,
hey, it might even come with torque this time. yay!

Honda is ultra tigth lip about their next generation/update, unless they want to leak something out to test the water, all the stuff flying around is rumors/garbage.
you can argue/dream about it all you want but you'll never know for sure.(cough..anyone remember what happen before the release of ap2?)

I love AP1's and AP2's.
All I know is, if the styling of the "next gen s2000" follows anything what the new CTR looks like, I'm going to puke on a kitten. A really cute one.

isn't the new nsx gonna be a lot more expensive than the supra, etc?

is it true that 2007 is the last ap2 s2k?
i also heard that a new skunk 2 4-1 header is coming out, that add the most gains for an s2k then any other header, so look out for that...
