do i need a new temp sensor or could it be installed wrong or a bad ground?
i had a new thermostat put in by honda.
sometimes the car would overheat so i checked and i know it's a problem with my thermo temp sensor for the fans.
so could honda of just put it on wrong (maybe not tight enough or something), i am not sure if they touched the sensor when they replace the thermostat or if the sensor goes bad once it overheates.
or should i just get a new sensor?
and i just want to make sure i have the correct ground for the thermostat, so let me know please.
thanks

There is a ground that bolts to a bolt right under the lower rad hose on the thermo housing, but it's an ECU ground. Is that what you mean?
It's hard to tell from those pics (and the wine I drank) , but it looks like maybe they mounted the ground in a different place.....

Yeah, that's what it looks like...the bolt for the ECU ground should be on the thermo housing like 2mm below the lower (longer) rad hose.

do you think this is why my fans aren't turning on, or could it still be the temp sensor on the thermo?

Well, if that ground is not grounded the car won't start. Probably a fan switch...
i only see the two bolts that hold on the thermo housing, and one hole that is on top, right near the sensor plug.
is that hole on top the ground or is it somewhere else?

The ECT SWITCH does not turn on the fan, pull your green plug in your pic ( this is not the ECT SENSOR) and short the two pins together and see if the fan comes on.

My H23 has the ground right under the rad hose, but it looks like your H22 does have it on top. Sorry if I caused you any confusion....just make sure that ground is attached well

sry i forgot to say it was an h22
the problem with that hole that looks like it is the groundis that the ground wire does not extend that far.
does anyone with an h22 know where this ground wire is suppose to go?

If the fans come on when you short your green connector the all of the wireing and grounds are good, the switch is bad or its not hot enough yet, make sure there is no air in there, it has to have actual hot water touching it to get heated up the right way.
thank you for the reply.
i will bleed the system and if that doesn't work i will replace the sensor.
anyone know off hand what size deep socket i will need?
