How do I determine "my" engine code for a 1998 Accord LX 4 cyl.

What do you mean engine code? Like which engine you Have?
If so If you look Down near where the transmission meets the motor, you will see a flat spot with Numbers/letters on it
Yours should be a F23A1 If im not mistaken
Look at this picture so u have a general idea of where it is
be aware that if you have a oil leak somewhere or your engine bay is just dirty this spot might be coverd
