Distributor rotor replacement - screw size?
I went to replace my distributor rotor today, but I couldn't get it off... I tried 3 different phillips head screw drivers, and none of them could get the screw loose, they just kept slipping. Is there some trick to getting that stupid screw out or what!? I didn't have time to keep messing with it today, so I'll be trying again tomorrow. Maybe I'll be able to get a small flat head screw driver to work, but the screw needs to be replaced since I partially stripped it today. Does anyone know what size that screw is? I would like to pick up a new one before I replace the rotor, rather than pull the orignial out and have to walk to the hardware store to find a replacement... Thanks.
Go buy the replacement screw at the dealer. I am not sure what size it is, but better safe than sorry. Also the screw is sometimes very difficult to get out. Try an impact screwdriver tool, or brake the rotor so you can fit a vice grip in there if you mess up the threading on screw to bad.
Always use high quality screwdrivers when pulling that screw off, also make sure your using the correct size. Good luck.

Correct size is very important, I went out to the hardware store and bought a set of 20 different screwdriver heads for this sorta thing. Even though some of them seem like they are a good fit, they still slip.
