Default Just Some Quick Insight Would Be Appreciated

Ok I have an 89 CRX Si I plan on putting a B16 or B18 motor in. So it'll take me from 105 to 160 hp. I only can spend likea grand, hopefully on the motor AND tranny. Or like 1200. So my best bet would more then likely be a rebuilt motor ya? I think it would be, cuz all the other used motors are like 2999. Any reccomendations would be awesome. N if you know some great places in So Cal to goto, let me know. I just know of 1 place I can get it all done at.

Do you only have $1000 to work with for the entire swap? if so, you'll need to keep saving before you start it.

Or are you alotting $1000 for the engine and tranny only?

Well I mean I have however I can have. I just got a new job n then my birthday is on the 22nd n then xmas is in 2 months. So I "could" spend however much is needed. I have over 2k miles on my motor n all the seals are fried n cracked. So i need one asap. But the guys at a shop told me they could sell me a rebuilt B16 for 625. N my buddy said a tranny would more then likely be like 400. So thats where i got a grand. What else do i need? Ima get it professionally installed, I dont wanna bother doin my first motor swap on my own. lol

b16 or b18 longblock
tranny
wiring harness
ecu
shift linkage
axles
mounts

Parts you should replace:
- belts
- gaskets
- seals
- clutch

Might be somethings that i forgot off the top of my head.

With a little bit of searching you should be able to find all the info you need, including the prices for the parts.

But for a complete b-series swap, DONE RIGHT will cost anywhere from $2200 - 3000 depending on what kind of deals you find.

It will cost more if you have a shop do it for you as well. With only a grand, its a little far fetched to be thinking of doing a b-series swap now, wait for the funds then plan it all out and have it done right. No sense in rushing it.

Your best bet will be to find a LS for that price

I just did my b16 swap, after everything it has cost me 2400 and the axles i got with the engine were shot so i still have to replace those, no lsd and my exhaust is clamped.

When that shop says they will sell you a rebuilt b16 for 6-- thats just the longblock, like stated above you will still need the tranny, ecu, mounts, axles, etc..... and it will cost about 2200-3000 even ls couldnt be put in with a budget of 1000 unless you get a buddys engine for cheap, but the mounts are 300... long block 700??? tranny 4-500??
