Default Burning oil

I just recently changed my oil, from 10w-30 to 5w-30, still mob 1 fully syn..question is with either i burn oil, i know i should use a heavier weight but, i dont know if my type-r motor can handle it?? is there any types of oil treatments anyone recommends to kindof slow the process of burning oil

i change my oil every 2 months, normally uses a 1/2 a quart to a full quart in between uses, it sees vtec / 9400rpms reguarly..

mobil1 commonly burns pretty quick on dohc vtec motors. Many who have had problems with mobil1 burning have switched to syntec and had their oil consumption cut in half. Castrol syntec is good oil.

If you want to try an additive, auto-rx is supposed to be really good stuff. Take a look at bobistheoilguy.com for info on it.

Yeah, I gotta say that mobil is the right choice. I guess it's normal if your burning 1/2 to a whole quart every oil change. But the only thing to do is throw in some mechanic in a bottle like moa or something like that or marvins mystery oil. I wouldn't use it though to be honest, it'll just make problems worse in the long run. Like you said, the best choice to opt with is just using thicker oil, just be careful with the different weather temperatures though in your final decision.

if your burning oil fix the problem...dont bandaid it...Because it will just come back. Get your rings replaced or your valve seals replaced (whichever it may be)
