Um I have a question.........what do they ask for in order to registrate a 1988 Honda Crx with a D.O.H.C. ZC engine.............. You know where you take it to the state refferre...............what are the requirements and the process if anybody knows thank you.............

 

well if ur in cali ur screwed u wont get ur ZC state reffed.. i curently have a dohc zc in my crx and live in cali.. i just keep my stock motor on the side and swap it out when smog comes around..

to reg. ur car in cali u gota have

-title
-bill of sale
-smog
-and u must live in cali (duh)

ya... there is a guy on here who says u can get a zc state reffed but since the engine code is ZC and they didnt make thos over here ( i know the d16a9 is just like it but JUST LIKE it doesnt count) there are parts dif... ur best bet would just pick up a stock motor for like 2 bills and then smog it and throw the zc back in or just pay for smog

 

no, people can register the dohc zc, it is very similar to the d16a8 i believe. swapping in and out motors is a waste of time. and its not similar to a a6, one becasue a a6 has ONE cam, and a zc has TWO. i know someone on here has done it, if you really want you can register it, if you dont care about that, swap in and out motors get pulled over and get your car taken away, whichever.

 

i see cuz i was just thinking of getting a crooked smog but what if i get pulled over.........i will either be sent to the state reff or get it taken away?

dude im sayin if u roll to a smog shop to get ur **** smogged they pop ur hood automatically and make sure everything is stock and hooked up...

Heh, lemme add to this bullcrap

1. Don't drive stupid, don't be a kid, you won't get your hood popped.
2. It's safe to say the answer is a BIG MAYBE that a REF will pass you with integra specs. SOME referees will pass them if they match integra specs. This is not a standard thing, seems like someone just got lucky to me.
3. smog hookups are good Use them if you've got them.
4. You get your hood popped, you get sent to the REF - NOT back to the smog hookup. It matters.

5. If you're that concerned. Get a PO Box in Nevada - Register your car in Nevada with the mailing address being a PO Box. Easy, done it, 100%. Get pulled over, the car lives in NV 75% of the year and you live here. Big whoop, don't be stupid.

 

Over here in Riverside. They ask you to pop your hood. You don't have unless they have probable cause. FOr example an exhaust. Then they get you. When you are sent to a referee you can either try to pass Or pay the fine which ends up to be bout $500.

Oh, and this is not what I "assume" will happen. This IS what happens. I have been there and done that.

WHen you register the car don't say anything bout it. When they tell you to smog it make sure all your emissions items are hooked up and try it. Let them tell you if you can pass or not. YOu are too nervous.

ya total waist of time (NOT)...dude it took me 5 hours from start to finish to pull my sohc and drop my zc in.... thats getting it running and everything(meaning driving down the street) 5 hours ant ****.. its better than payin someone 3bills to pass me

1st off it is WASTE, not waist, grab a dictionary!

2nd, i am a WASTE of time? Is it 5 hrs each time, 5 hrs to pull the Zc put the Stock motor back in, then 5 more hrs to pull the stock back OUT and put the Zc in?Either way who is the *** pulling their stock motor out just to pass inspection, then dropping the Zc back in? Ya, and i am the waste of time...LOL

So lets see, spend hrs to pull my motor just to pass the state ref. THEN have to put it back in
OR
spend 45mins to have the car put on the lift, check the underbody(brake lines etc), the headlights, honk the horn and look at the tires?

Maybe i got lucky, i swapped ina d15bvtec, i put on nonvtec valve cover, stock intake, stock header, d16z6 emmisions crap, and i passed good. It was a 4x4 smog place. Well, i made my mom go to the smog place and do it for me, i told her to say " i bought it liike this" I got the idea from some thread on here.
