because this is like a multi thread subject you should know that the ivtec in the A3 is alot different than standard vtec and this should explan

The A3 has a vtec system designed with fuel economy in mind....Under 3200 RPM the engine operates with 3 valve per cylinder...After that the vtec engages and opens all 4 valves...this is why u cannot have "real" vtec with the A3 stock...with a typeS (k20A2) head or the A head (typeR) you have "real" vtec where there is a high and low cam lobe on both intake and exhuast...like the B series with vtec...think of the a3 as an LS motor its torquey and has some power but without an engine swap the civic and rsx base both have shitty motors..

Moral of the story swap is the real way to get real vtec SAFELY</TD></TR></TABLE>

You are absolutely incorrect on that one, sorry man. it's 142 ft lbs and that is a picture of a k20a2

um, both 02-04, 05-06 base has I-VTEC. Look under the hood. But the real difference is that the k20a3 doesn't have a REAL VTEC, it doesn't utilize 3 cam lobes on both intake and exhaust sides like the k20a2,z1,z3 (Type S 02-04, 05-06, 06 civic Si). k20a3 does not have oil squirters as well for VTEC. The k20a3 is mainly a gas efficient motor
