bleh, a walmart tractor battery will run a ITR and is cheap and light. No need for an optima unless 1) you have a large stereo and need a second battery for the stereo for shows and such or 2) you have too much extra cash.

just MHO.

I had an Optima red top in my Scout. It really needed the extra power - made life much better.

But now it's dead, and I don't want to drop $140 on another

They're great batteries for trucks and whatnot, but overkill in an R.

There's a local groupbuy on them...just didn't know if they were worth it.

Worth it... but not for your car. It won't fit the stock location, so you'd have to get a relocator kit, and those ain't cheap.

I ran 2 yellow top Optimas in my hatchie with 4 12s and 3 amps drawing a **** load of current from the alternator. For daily driving, it's not needed. As Dave said, for cars that are drawing higher amps out of the engine that the alternator can handle. Red Top Optimas Yellow Top Blue top - no comment cause I never used it

Anyone try the Optima battery they sell at PepBoys? It looks like a lower line Optima but it has awesome cranking power and is maintenance free.
