Default Good cold weather gear?

Right now Im currently rocking an Icon mesh jacket. It has a removable liner, but i dont think its gonna be enough. I want to get a nice leather jacket for the winter. My birthday is coming up so my mom said she would buy one for me. Are they any good jackets out there? Ive tried on a couple of different A* jackets and it seems they are all either too big or too small. Unfortunatley theres only one shop around here that sells gear that I know of so I am unable to try a bunch of different jackets. Any one got any suggestions for jackets as well as gloves? Budget should be around 5-600 dollars. Thanks

The mesh will surely be lacking in a downpour. One thing I've taken to doing is wearing a cheap water-resistant windbreaker on the outside of my gear to help stay dry.
