I'm gona be getting a b16 2nd generation for my 93 hatch. I've heard people talking about there being a 1 million series and a 5 million series. Can someone inform me what exactly they're talking about. Thanx

 

All the jibber jabber yapping that goes around the internet, about 1series & 5series B16A's doesn't mean she-eye-it. Go by this for B16A designation:

89-91 B16A (JDM) 160hp/ cable type (trans) / either 1 or 5 series but all have the same compression (10.2) whether its a 5speed or an auto version / The auto version has less HP thanks to the sorry-*** camshaft profile(s).

92+ B16A (JDM) 170hp/ hydro type (trans) / all 5 series (even tho this doesn't mean crap) / all have the same compression (10.4) even the auto version / the auto version on this newer type B16A also has less HP due tot he sorry *** camshaft profile as well.


....but when people refer to 1 or 5 series, they're talking about the first digit on the blocks serial number, right below the 'B16A' stamp. Why some people go by this, still boggles me to this day. It's a dumb way of identifying a B16A engines's year or whatever these people are trying to achieve by associating the 1 or 5 so-called 'series'.
