Measure ur pipe diameter.
Order a magnaflow cat for ~$60 shipped.
Take it to the muffler shop & tell them to replace your cat (labor at about $50).

Enjoy your passed smog test.
Its that simple!

* Ca has some BS standards on ObdII cats. I think they need to be "3 way cats" which are better at doing their job.. Nehow, if you just buy a magnaflow cat that says 3way or ObdII compliant then just buy it. DISREGARD the CA bullshit

Signed,
Person that has passed many many smog checks & guy that has 2 extra magnaflow cats in his storage left over from past car purchases that didnt pass smog.

Any muffler shop should have a cat for your car.

What happened to the stock catalytic converter? Acura has a recall for those. Is your car modified?

Or he could fix the problem and not be a gross polluter. He'd probably save some money, as well.

How to: LEGALLY SMOG ANY ENGINE SWAP:

The best way to SMOG your ride is the legal way! We legally pass the vehicles using CNG/LPG/propane gas. The vehicles are slightly modified and passed on propane, and then, upon the owners discretion, changed back to regular pump gasoline, there are no permanent modifications done to the vehicle, the turnaround is about 4-6 hours.

We will gladly explain the conversion process to anyone who would like to convert their own vehicles, please feel free to email us at: jargon_@hotmail.com with any questions. Any engine can be legally smogged and registered. Turboed, supercharged, high compression race motors, K20's, B20's, H22's, any engine in any car.

You are barely failing. Retard your ignition timing to 14 degrees BTDC and heat up the cat a little more before you go test again. That should be enough to pass. Ask for a pretest before you actually do the smog test next time too.

what are you at on o2?

you are either running slightly rich or slightly lean indicated by the HC content

if you were also high on o2 then that will indicate that the car is running slightly lean

We are in 2006, smog techs nowadays are known to take your money and still snitch you out. Only work with people you know and trust.

Looks about right. When my 00 GSR passed, it was by 1 ppm HC on both speeds.

Honestly, the cheapest way to pass is to just go get a bottle of GTP and follow the directions. You're only off a little, and it should be able to get you back under the limit.

Also, make certain that you get your catalytic really hot before the test. Take some time on the freeway, in 4th, and keep the revs up a little, and get that exhaust smoking hot. Then, make sure they don't let you car just sit in the parking lot cooling down, idle it in the parking lot if they aren't going to do the test when you get there.
