short shifter on DA
Hey, well i wanna put a short shifter on my DA but theres 1 thing that worries me and that is the OEM shift boot, will that thing be too tall and i seen some cars that the shift boot just hang low down there and i want it to look as OEM spec as possible what whats the solution on making the shift boot stay up high right below the shift **** ?
is ur shifting actually better wit the short shifter, sorry im a noob on short shifters, how is it cuz i know i felt a eclipse wit on i disliked it cuz it was like a click up, click down, click up, ..... i want it to be shorter but not AS short to where its just clicks.
be seen by some cars? are u thinking cars driving by may see your shifter boot who gives a shtit hte only poeple that will see it will be the people that ride in your car and chances are they wony know much about cars or wont car that your shifter boot hangs a little low..
the previous one i had did that..it clicks. that one was a dual bend...i didnt like it either thats why i switched to this one. it feels fine. it eliminates throw enough for me to be able to just shift w/ my wrist. its ok...i dont really think it makes u shift any faster...its more for looks and ergonomics.
do you still remember the part number for that shifter, because i bought a b&m shifter for my da and they said that it's a "factory bend" so i'm guessing it's a dual bend?
the reason for a short shifter is that since the shifter is shorter, ur able to put ur car into gear easier. thats why the eclipse short shifter just clicks, its suppose to do that so the driver can get it in gear faster without struggle where the slot is for that gear.

as for the boot hanging, its not about other people seeing it, just about me, i honestly dont like seeing that.
So dual bend is the click one then which one is the one thats just a lil shorter than the OEM spec not clicks though, cuz i know the oem is like a long way for N to 1. I just want the shifter to hang a little lower and a lil smaller feel of the gearbox.

im pretty sure mine is only single bend. i remember my old dual bend shifter was longer. it stuck out over the boot and it kept hitting my exhaust from the bottom.

I just put one on my car but on the end of the shifter were the bearings are and were it bolts on to the shirt rod that gos into the trans . were i put the bolt threw the shifter to the shift rod it was real sloppy and i even had two little washers in there on each side ? what am i missing ? Should i get a little sleeve to go inside the bearings so when i put the bolt threw it takes up the slack . i tryed a thicker bolt put the holes aren't big enough ?
yea i got the single bend short shifter. make sure u get the stainless steel billet and not the aluminum. i made the mistake of buying the aluminum dual bend "short throw" the first time...that **** snapped on me.
so the part number for the b&m dual bend is 45047, i just put it on yesterday with a gsr shift linkage... better shifts but the shifter is sitting on the heat shield, i should go back under there and fix it but, it started raining and i don't know when it's going to stop
