crx revival?
I'm looking into either getting a brand new commuter car, or spending less money and reviving a CRX.
I've been out of the import game for years so I have no idea what things cost.
What would this cost?
Here's what I want to do:
91 Si
-rebuild orig motor, or a EASY (non labor intensive, as far as motor swaps go) motor swap
-rebuild trans
-new clutch
-new brakes all around
-free flowing exhaust (not racing! not loud!) subtle
-comply with emissions and stuff
-any misc. stuff i forgot.

I'd recommend just finding a clean, original CRX. It may cost 3-4 grand, and it may take a while to find a really good one, but stick it out. Then, just change all fluids, timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, wires, cap, and rotor. Then drive the damn thing and don't worry about it. If something breaks, fix it. Remember, these cars have been around for a while. Chances are, the one you find won't have the original clutch. It may have already had the engine or tranny rebuilt or replaced.
Trying to take an old CRX and make it "new" is going to cost more than it's worth, and you may end up doing more harm than good. In other words, if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it.
If you want a new car, buy a new car.
