Default 12" Alpine typeX VS. 12" JL w7

alright so my friend is selling a 12" JL w7 in the HO wedge box with a 1000wRMS Rockford fosgate power series amp and a 1.5 fared cap for $550....But i already have a 12" alpine type X with a 1600wRMS MA audio amp....Which of the subs will sound better. I know it all deppends on the car, and box and blah blah. But in theory which will have better SQ and still maintain the ability to go loud.

Damn, thats a really good question. I know that I had an Alpine and I loved em, but the w7's I bet sound good. JL's been well known for top of the line, real expensive products. You should check out Memphis Audio. They've been around just as long as JL just didn't spend much money advertising. But Its up to you, JL and Alpine are both very good companys. I would say go on google, search both subwoofers, and compare side by side. Hopefully that helps, and if you have any questions like... besides that with audio I can ask my friend for you if you want.

Either one of the subs will do the job the 12W7 is a 750W/1500W sub and the Alpine 12' type X ,[SWX-1242D] is a 1000W/3000W sub.

What are the model numbers of the amps? I would be willing to bet the R/F amp is the better of the 2 amps, and for SQ and SPL I will have to lean to the JL Audio 12W7 everything else being equal 94

depending on which ma audio amp that you have. If it there entry level 1600 watt amp. It not putting out 1600 watt trust me. I deal with thim all the time and built my demo truck with there amps and subs before getting out of there line.

to be honest i doubt its putting out that much power also. I was planning on using the R/F to power the JL. Im taking the sub out of the H/O wedge box since that wont fit in my trunk, and i like to maintain some trunk space....My plan is to build a sealed fiberglass box.

I've personally heard a JL W7, sounds really clean. Mainly SQ so it doesn't get loud enough for me. It was also in the Prowedge sealed box. If it's the Rockford Fosgate Power Series T1000 amp, those are really nice. I'd go with the JL. The Alpine Type-X needs too much power to get that subwoofer moving imo. W7 over Type-X for SQ.

They don't sound good. Period.

You ever opened up a power series amp? Notice how much of it is actually the circuit board and how much is needless metal just to make the amp look big and powerful.

Wow T5002 mistaken for a T1000 big difference. The T5002 only puts out 500x1 @ 2ohms bridged. Won't even be enough for the W7 since it needs 750rmsx1 @ 3ohms.
