Default Help with Driver side Window Replacement

Hey,
I just bought a 98 Prelude to replace my totaled 93.

The driver side window doesnt work. The clips at the bottom of the glass where it connects to the regulator is broken off. The guy told me that Honda says that he could not replace the clips alone, so you have to buy the entire glass. You can see the clips at the bottom of the glass in the picture.

I am a bit confused to what he was telling me, but he was saying that when I buy the window, I have to buy the entire window system (including the regulator to my understanding) to replace it.

This is what he said in his e-mail
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">the window i am leaving up to the buyer you can get the who window module from honda (crossbar and glass) for about120-180 dollars.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Do you think I need to replace the cross bar as well? He is saying that honda won't sell the parts individually, or should I just purchase the window first and then go from there?
Anyone have any experience fixing this problem?

If your glass is good I see no reason why honda would make you buy a completely new one. Thanks makes Zero sense. Call honda and find out.

Or try to find a junkyard with the whole door. It could be cheaper then new parts.

Unfortunately i had to experience something like this in JUne when some cockbag thieves decided to smash my drivers side window and take my head unit. Explecative f'in thieves

Basically if the clips at the bottom of the window are broken I think you will end up having to buy a whole new glass. From what I saw when i was replacing my window i noticed that they (Honda) used some sort of glue or and or rivets to get the pastic clips to stick to the glass.

My advice is to call around to a few local junk yards and see how much they want for a window. I was able ot get an entire drivers side glass for $68 from this local auto salvage place. Keep lookin man, and good luck w/it.

Yeah those clips are stuck in the glass and I don't think they are removable. So if it's just the clips on the glass that are broken you should just buy a new window. You don't need the crossbar.

The only local junk yard that had it was a used one for $136.

They were trying to get the a new one for the same price, but the place that was selling it says that it doesnt come with the clips.

I needed it as soon as possible because my fiance's car got totaled last week, and we need to turn in the rental tomorrow, so we have to get it fixed by the weekend to pass inspection.
