quick question about gas
You run a "semi-high compression" engine. Anytime you go down in octane, you run the risk of pre-detonation and pinging.
Just use what the manual reccommends. Honda knows their own cars like nobody else, so do what they reccommend.

If i recall my ep3 was regular.
The type s i believe was 91+ recommended, however usually once a month i'd get down to NO gas and fill up with super just to "clean out the excess".
Consider yourself lucky.. my last 2 cars require super

You can temporarily use a lower octain than what your engine requires. The ECU should retard the timing when it detects pinging. Your performance and mileage will suffer, though.
Just use the correct octain your engine requires. Like others have said, it should be indicated on the filler door.

Use the correct octane fuel according to what your compression ratio is to prevent knock.
Basic Rule! 9.0:1 and above you better use 90+ octane
or I could go **** and do a whole write up on hp output & compression ratio & what octane that's needed & what you can do to help prevent knock like water injection etc....
