What Transmission do u prefer?
Hi, I am considering doing an auto - manual swap on my 1998 prelude. I have found someone near buy that is scrapping their 2001 prelude sh. So I am buying a few things from him. I would also like to buy his transmission and other equipment to do the swap. However, I researched that the SH trany wont work on the base 5th gen. Can I use all the other parts from his SH? Should I get a 4th gen transmission? I will be considering boost later on. Thx
List of different transmissions people recommended
1) U2Q7
2) M2B4
3) M2A4

Just put an m2b4 in my car yesterday, I highly recommend this tranny if you arent going to use boost. Lsd rocks my socks, and when i shift from 1st to 2nd i dont fall out of vtec.
I would find an h23 tranny cheap and then put in new synchros
and a quafie LSD, then you have a nice tranny that's ready to
handle some boost.

okay i just did a search this question sorta came up b4. This time people recommended h22 trans for h22. said h23 trans was slower on h22. However still good for boost. Is this correct or was it noob talk? Another post said that h23 has longer gears than h22.

What do you guys think about that ? Obviously the gears are longer u can tell that by looking at the ratios but would you go with it over an h23 trans on a boosted car ?

If you didnt want the F22 tranny, The H23 tranny has longer gears in it as well...And I have one of those!
It would be great for boost. I was actually saving it for boost but then decided to go NA.

yes it will fit on a 5gen base...it will fit on any h or f series engine. im only looking to get about 150 for the tranny...plus shipping if you arent going to pick it up or meet up with me.
heres my description...
I am selling a transmission that will fit perfectly onto any H or F series engine. It is originally for the 1994-1997 Honda Accord EX with the F22B1 engine, but as you may know, you can use this for the H22, H23, or F22 engines. This transmission is especially good for turbo'd cars. The transmission is in used condition with about 60k miles on it. There is only a small grind while shifting into 5th gear if you do not double clutch into the gear. However, I will include some Synchromesh fluid that should take care of the grind. Unfortunately, I didn't get to test it out to see if it would get rid of the grind. Please contact me if you are interested. Pickup is preferred. I live on Long Island but I'm willing to meet halfway with someone from NYC

lol that sounds like a disaster
you would be better off custom making a solid shift linkage for a lude....or better yet a mechanical gear engager on the trans that is wire controlled, and make an electically controlled sequential shifter.....
dude that idea sounds pretty sick.....hmmm.....

yea i know, but you can just do so many more aftermarket support for b series motors. Plus i think it would be kinda fun....well....i say that now LOL

I think the hardest part would be the motor mounts....because if you set the b trans up in there, the motor is gonna have to move
well i suppose you could just leave it as it, but that could make the shifter linkage tough....because it would angle the hookups down I think....
I really think I could get the solenoids on the trans housing to push the shifter linkage thing to work....which would be cool as hell...**** I could make paddle shifters with that setup...
