I just bought a d16a6 shortblock that I want to rebuild and throw in some forged rods+pistons. I want to do as much as I can myself. How much money should I expect to pay in machine shop costs. basically I figure...
1. dissassemble the block and notch it for forged h beam rods
2. have the machine shop. clean, bore/hone, check/polish crank, check deck, and remove a broken head stud from the block.
3. purchase pistons, bearings, gaskets according to what happens at machine shop.
4. reassemble.
About how much should I expect to spend for the cleaning, bore/hone, polish crank, and remove a broken head stud?
