Default k20 compression test #s?

What's a RSX Type S compression test numbers?

*update*

Just did a compression test on another type-s and it come out with 210psi

My other buddy's type s did only 190psi and it does feel a lot weaker and doesn't pull as hard as the other type s that did 210psi. He said that it used to feel strong until he misgeared and did 11k+ rpm and it was running messed up and the dealership replaced the engine which is what they said and on the papers but we now know they only replaced the head since if they did do the whole engine he would be having 210psi and pulling strong like a normal type s.

Believe it or not there is no uniform number to go by. The Helm says somewhere around 190 but compression testers have a little bit of variance.

Proper way to know if compression is good, is to make sure all numbers are uniform. As in 190/185/190/185 is good 190/185/65/80 is bad. Up to 10 PSI variance is ok, anymore than that there is most likely a problem.

Look into a leakdown tester also, they are a hell of a lot more accurate and can also help you pinpoint the problem.

When I did a compression test on my k20a2 my numbers were around 190, my biggest variance was about 10psi in my #4 cylinder. I did the test with throttle wide open and did about 5 cranks per cylinder.

As long as all the numbers are close together, it's fine. Just because one guy get's 210 on all four cylinders and another guy get's 190 on all four cylinders in his car doesn't matter. Helms say's average is 190psi on a type s which is 11:1. If compression was raised either by aftermarket pistons or thinner headgasket, maybe the numbers would be higher. All cars are different; plain and simple.

Blah Blah blah!

This is Stock v.s. Stock!

Trust me! Go drive a stock RSX Type-S with bad rings that does 190psi and go drive one that does 210psi. Bet you $100 the one with 190psi feels weaker and will get whooped by the one with perfect condition rings. My buddy (the one with the rsx that did 190psi ) got whooped time after time by the one that did 210psi. Both stock with I/E only.

So you guys with 190psi all across go drive one with 210psi and you'll notice the difference when doing 3rd gear pulls.
