Default exhaust question

I was wondering if more power would be gained if I just ran a header and nothing else?

you might lose some power due to the motor not having enough backpressure, and it will be loud as hell take off your exhaust and try it

needing backpressure = myth

You'll loose low end power but gain in the top end thanks to all the added flow. I wouldn't suggest open header though (it's WAYYY too loud), you could try open exhaust though (no axleback) so atleast you're running a resonator (similar to having a buddy club spec II exhaust lol)

backpressure is by far not a myth the reason he would lose low end torque is because of loosing backpressure. why else would it be slower in the low end? take off the header and run the car like that and see what happens, tell me if backpressure doesnt matter..dont disagree just to disagree jeezzzzz

if you want to have a happy medium i would just get a good exhaust like a whole system with a high flow cat and performance muffler there are many good choices
