Ok I was having an issue with my car initially having to fight to get it into first and occasionally popping out. When shifting from second to third, I would move the selector to where third should be and release the clutch and it would grind as if I wasn't all the way in gear. I would try it again and it would work. Same thing with fifth. Now something is terribly wrong because I can only shift into 2nd, 4th and reverse and it's tough as I don't know what to get them out of these gears. When i push forward to try and access 1, 3, or 5, it will not go past neutral. I changed the shift selector thinking that was the issue but that did nothing. What's going on?
It moves freely from side to side in neutral. Car is a 95 with a recently swapped h22 vtec and a prelude tranny M2L5. Car worked fine for about a couple of weeks until this started happening. My mechanic friend checked the clutch fluid which was fine and the tranny fluid which was also fine.

Wow, my buddies is having the same problem but opposite direction. I tried doing a hard shift into 2nd last night & I snapped one of the cables.
We tried replacing the cables which I believe were from a 90-93 accord & now it only goes into 1st, 3rd, & 5th, all of the forward motion gears. He has a 95 Accord with h22 swap. BUMP 4 you cuz we need to get this fixed as well.

I called the shop who did my swap and described the issue to them and he said the same thing about the cable. I'm going to swap it out and see if this fixes the problem. I did a little research and found that the prelude and accord shift linkages are interchangeable (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) so I'll be using one or the other. I'll keep you posted.

UPDATE: I swapped out the shifter cables and now it shifts perfectly. No slipping out of gear, or hard shifting into any gears. Thanks for the info.
