Default O2 Sensor Problem

Im having a problem with my car. I have a 2000 Accord with an OBD1 H22a in it. Its throwing a code 1 for primary o2 sensor. So i changed the sensor and i reset it and still throwing it. I had a shop look at the wiring and it looks like everything is working fine. My air/fuel gauge seems to work and move around, so my question to you is, If i tune the motor at a dyno shop using my V-afc can I just let it still throw the CEL for the O2 sensor without it affecting the performance of the car since I am altering the air/fuel ration using the V-AFC? Much appreciated ahead of time !

If your sure you have checked the o2 sensor and are sure its ok, dont go and mask the problem by adding or subtracting fuel with your VAFC. There is obviously a problem some where in the combustion chamber that the o2 is sniffing out. You could have weak spark that is causing you to not burn all the fuel or bad injectors causing you to run lean, you could have an exaust leak....find the root of the problem.

You say you have a VAFC maybe you are tuned too lean or too rich.

If its too rich, it would throw a Code for the 02 sensor?

Yes the ECU will throw a code (P0171 or P0172), if the o2 sensor detects a rich or lean mixture. There a alot of things that could cause your car to run lean/rich. Anywhere from valve clearances to an exaust leak.

You said you lowered the compression, are you boosted? At what compression are you running your motor? And why.

I rebuilt the motor using crower rods, JE 9:1 compression pistons, I also port and polished the head, put new skunk2 manifold and throttle body. Once the motor is broken in I will put the turbo kit on.
