Default might be getting an '02 R6 soon

Went and checked this bike out today. Biggest problem was the fact that we couldn't start up the engine (go figure, since there's a big crack in the cover and there's no oil).
Other problems: it has a D&D pipe , needs a crank cover gasket, oil pump (i think it said on the estimate sheet), part of the subframe(?) underneath near the swingarm is bent a little, plastics scraped (who cares), broken rear turnsignal/missing front left lens, aaaaand there's a crack in the metal in the support for the instrument cluster right below it in the center. Other than that... looks spiffy to me. TThink it's worth it?

$1400 offer with cash in hand
and then the repairs that ensue... I think it's worth it. Any opinions?

btw, does the suspension look right in the last picture?

I personally wouldn't want to buy a bike with that much damage but it seems like a good price for what seems to be a RELATIVELY cheap fix.

i concur. if he has no oil, and has a cracked case you can hear it run if it runs at all and therefore are not gauranteed anything. and once you buy it, legally he holds no responsibility if it starts or not or if it runs right or not.

on the other hand, however, at $1400 even if it doesnt run chances are you could part it out and make some money.

I believe the tranny problem doesn't affect this bike, so says the owner (good guy, older guy with two kids, surprisingly not a squid), as for the engine starting, the extent of damage was diagnosed by the local shop/dealer, so I dunno if that stands for much at all.

Wonder if I'd be able to get the parts for the motor and see if it'll run first.

Oh wow I had the exact same bike: year and color.

Absolutely loved mine to death, until I got into a spill.

Taht's a lot of stuff to be repairing.. even if its a good fix, there might be other things you might not know about until later?

How much is it to repair everything except maybe the plastics? And is it salvage title? It everything comes out to less than $3000 w/clean title, it's an okay deal. Otherwise I'd go looking for something that runs.
