valve adjustment cures clacking/tapping sound.
Today I adjusted my valves in an attempt to quiet my engine's loud tapping. In my CRX I used to adjust my valves when ever they got noisy. The sohc 1.6 never was as nosiy as the used GSR I bought two months ago was. I was afraid my car had a spun bearing because of the clacking/ticking sound I could hear at idle. I checked the valve/follower clearances and found 14 of 16 valves out of spec. After adjustment, the noise was gone, low end power seemes more responsive and the idle was lower and more consistant. I gapped the intake and exhaust both at .178mm. Overall I can't believe the differance.
Just thought some of you may want to know my results since I see questions about valve adjustents posted often.

cool man, I fine-tuned my clearances a couple weeks ago, since I never got them 100% right the first time I attempted a few months ago, my engine runs much smoother now. All but 2 of my intake valves were on the money, but all 8 exhaust valves were .001-.002" too loose.
