Default Confused by manual instructions

94 Accord EX 4-banger Vtec

I am in the middle of replacing my exhaust manifold. Let's just say that after 6 hours of work, all I got was the old one off! the thing was also cracked all the way through... yikes!

Quick questions. I need to know what the torque specs are for the manifold to block and manifold pipe to header pipe. I am using the Chilton's manual and have read over it several times, but can't understand which numbers to use (I know it is basic). The problem is the way it is worded seems to contradict itself, and since I am new at DIY I get confused easily. If anyone can help me interpret this, I would be much obliged.

I show the exhaust manifold nuts should be torqued to 28ftlbs onto the studs.

no exact torque found for the manifold to 'A' pipe, but 14mm should be in the range of 33-35 ftlbs.

Thanks. I guess if I don't get it perfect it will still work, if I am close enough.
