I have a cable b16a trans it is short geared trans I think it is ys1 non lsd, Sometimes It grinds going to third but most of the time downshifting to 3rd.

main problem is when on highway I will go to shift to 5th and It pops out of gear after a few minutes but it allows be to go back in and then it does the same thing again...

 

alot of these older cable trannys grind in 3rd..for that popping out of 5th issue it may just be low on fluid.....change the tranny fluid and fill up with ~2.2 qts of honda mtf or pennzoil syncromesh and see if it helps

 

fluids low..i had the same problem... fill it up and you should be good

 

could it be leaking from reverse light switch hole I dont have the reverse light in and is just an empty hole I never noticed til today.... CAN I get one from a DX my year or have to look for b16a trans
