i can't believe cycletrader wants $100 to list your bike.
It only cost me $40 for a run till it sells ad here in the northwest. I wouldn't suspect NY would be much different.
If you haven't tried craigslist yet, you might want to. Bikes don't sell very fast on Honda-tech. Especially for such a high price.
*EDIT* i did some research. It doesn't look like there IS a cycle trader magazine in NY. They only offer the online service, which, in my opinion isn't worth the price they're asking considering craigslist is free.

i advertise here despite the fact that there are a lot of cheap broke low-ballerz that try to low-ball me. When I had my Integra GSR, I sold it for my asking price by advertising it here on HT.... so i still have hope.

You can't get that bike out of the dealership for under 8500 because there's been a new model since. Mods do very little for a bikes resale value. Motorcycles depreciate horribly; there is no waiting list to buy a modern 600cc sportbike.
p.s. If tires sit that long on a motorcycle, there is a good chance they may have gone bad.

Dude please don't talk to me about the vaule of resale... and on top of that your first sentence made no sense.
The resale on jap bikes is actually amazing giving the fact of the condition. you have to figure the bike was under 10k to begin with mileage and time on the seat doesn't affect the price. just the condition. You have to figure in a sale like this even if he looses 25% of the purchased price hes making out. Its not like hes selling a 50k Harley for 25 ya know. i understand mods also don't really add value in most cases but in this case they do. there tastefully chosen, and the bike is in showroom condition. why wouldn't someone want to purchase a bike at a amazing deal, and still not have to deal with retail getting all the necessary parts... Sliders, eliminator kit, flushies...ect
Now i could care what your response is to this i am just trying to support this guy here. If i didn't already own this i would take advantage of it in a heart beat... just tired of people chiming in on post when what there posting is irrelevant to the topic

Umm, you might want to re-read the rest of your post, because most of it makes little to no sense.
A couple responses from me:
Firstly. The effect of mods on the price is on a case by case basis. In this case, the owner has done a bunch of subtle mods, whose used value is not very much. The exhaust is probably the most expensive thing on the bike, and i don't even see it listed. As for everything else, it's iffy. Some people might not want all of those mods, so they don't necessarily want to pay for them. What one person considers "tastefull chosen" others might consider it not worth their money.
Secondly. The average retail value of this bike, regardless of miles, is $6,600. KBB lists it even lower. Those are loose standards as for what to list a bike for. Another factor is area. Another is demand. In my experience, you can pick up a GSXR from the local 7-11 they're so prevelant. This drives the value down. I can pick up an 05 GSXR in my area for the NADA value of the bike.
Lastly. Miles. Ahh miles. I would rather buy an 05 GSXR with 5000 miles than this one with 685. Who knows how long this one's been sitting or how it was broken in. It obviously wasn't ridden very much. It probably needs new tires as Ash said and i don't know how much i trust the break-in procedures of a guy who only puts 685 miles on his bike. No offense to the OP.
On a side note. New models also drastically effect the price of bikes. I.e. the new GSXR is a completely redesigned bike, making it more appealing to the market. Who wants to pay $7500 for an 05 when for nearly the same price they can get the 06?!

How are you making out on something that you garage for 2 years and don't use? Moreover, a 25% loss for under 700 miles is rough.

What are we calling necessary here? The only "necessary" addition would be sliders and there are many who would just shrug, let their insurance deal with damage and say screw sliders.

I'm chiming for the FIRST time ever in a while becuase the bike in question has been listed for sale 8 times already here. Not to mention in the classifieds section of this site there is an 06 gsxr 600 for $7k with ~2k on the clock and an 06 600rr with ~700 miles on it for $6800. Both are newer, cheaper, etc. and are semi worthy of being called a "deal" but not quite amazing.
